President Biden Grants Pardon to Hunter Biden

Joe Biden Pardons Son Hunter Amid Ongoing Legal Challenges

President Joe Biden has granted a “full and unconditional” pardon to his son, Hunter Biden, for charges related to gun possession and tax evasion. The pardon, announced on Sunday, represents a reversal of Biden’s earlier stance, where he had expressed that he would not use his executive power to intervene in his son’s legal matters.

Legal Battles and Presidential Intervention

Hunter Biden was facing sentencing for federal gun charges on December 12 and for tax evasion charges on December 16. He had pleaded guilty in September to the tax charges, and was convicted in June for falsifying information on a gun purchase form in 2018. In his statement, President Biden expressed his belief that his son had been unfairly prosecuted, noting that similar cases typically don’t result in felony charges unless there are aggravating circumstances.

The president also criticized what he described as politically motivated legal actions against his son, fueled by his opponents in Congress.
