“Mr. Tambourine Man” Lyrics Sell for $508,000

Typewritten drafts of Bob Dylan’s Mr. Tambourine Man sold for $508,000 at a Nashville auction. The pages included three versions of the lyrics with handwritten notes. Music journalist Al Aronowitz originally found the drafts discarded by Dylan at his home in New Jersey.

Painting and Guitar Draw Big Bids

A 1968 oil painting by Dylan sold for $260,000, while his 1983 Fender Telecaster guitar fetched $222,250. The guitar, gifted to amplifier technician Cesar Diaz, surpassed its $120,000 estimate.

Items like a $25,400 denim jacket from Hearts of Fire and a $88,900 sketch on a Plaza Hotel memo pad captivated bidders. The auction highlighted Dylan’s artistic legacy, with sales reaching nearly $1.5 million.
