Airbnb has introduced new luxury services in its updated app to give guests more than just a place to stay. Users can now book personal chefs, massage therapists, and fitness trainers directly through the platform. This update aims to offer travelers the spaciousness of Airbnb rentals with the premium services usually found in hotels.
The company’s new offerings come as the travel industry faces uncertainty, including a possible slowdown in U.S. bookings. Since its launch in 2008, Airbnb has hosted over two billion guests worldwide but has also dealt with restrictions on short-term rentals in various cities.
Starting at under $50 (£37.57), the new services will be available in 260 cities globally. They include spa treatments, makeup artists, and photographers, and can be booked even by those not staying in an Airbnb rental. The app’s “experiences” tab has also been redesigned to allow travelers to book tailored tours and activities, expanding beyond accommodation alone.
Travelers today increasingly look for trips that match their personal interests and preferences. Airbnb’s “originals” section offers unique experiences such as beach volleyball in Rio or social events with well-known sports figures. This reflects a growing demand for travel moments that are both memorable and authentic.
With these updates, Airbnb hopes to attract travelers who want the best of both worlds: the freedom and space of rentals combined with hotel-like comfort and services.
