Lamine Yamal, the 17-year-old winger, has extended his contract with FC Barcelona for six more years. The club announced the extension after their remarkable season, in which Barcelona won La Liga, the Copa del Rey, and the Spanish Super Cup under coach Hansi Flick. Yamal’s previous deal was set to expire in 2026, but with this new agreement, he will remain at Camp Nou until 2031.
Yamal made his debut for Barcelona’s senior team in 2023 at just 15 years old. Since then, he has become one of the team’s most productive players. Over the last season, he scored 18 goals and assisted 25 times in 55 appearances. The club confirmed the new contract on Tuesday in the presence of president Joan Laporta and sporting director Deco.
Born in Mataró near Barcelona, Yamal has quickly risen to become a key player for the club’s future. He has scored 25 goals in 115 games for Barcelona, setting records as the youngest scorer in La Liga, the Copa del Rey, and the Spanish Super Cup. He is also the youngest Barcelona player to reach 100 senior matches, showing his consistency and maturity on the field.
On the international stage, Yamal has earned 19 caps for Spain. He helped Spain win the Euro 2024 trophy, where they defeated England 2-1 in the final held in Berlin. As a graduate of Barcelona’s famous La Masia academy, Yamal’s playing style has drawn comparisons to Lionel Messi because of his creativity and calm presence during matches.
In addition to securing Yamal’s future, Barcelona has also renewed contracts for head coach Hansi Flick and forward Raphinha. These moves strengthen the club’s foundation as they prepare for coming seasons.
